Step One -- Start a Blog
Step one would be to start a blog. You will need to rule on a name, find a host server, and pick a theme for your blog. My advice in the starting is to keep it as easy as you can. Use all the free programs available. There will be some services that you have to pay for. You can learn to streamline what you're doing and tasks will come to be simpler once you've repeated them a whole of times. Depending on how much knowledge you have, this may be very time interesting at the beginning, but it's well worth it.
Step Two -- Start working on Content
What is going to attract population to your blog? You have to drive population to your site. A web-site or blog with only a singular page or just a few doesn't rank very high. Start adding article to your blog and keep adding. If you don't have any of your own content, publish music articles or even videos related to your type of music. Remember that it must hold value for your viewers. Step Four -- design your Blog for Easy Navigation
Nothing frustrates me more than landing on a site and not being able to find the facts that I want, when it's supposedly there! Other population have vented the same disappointment to me. I advise the simpler -- the better!
I write and publish articles as a means of attracting traffic. I created dissimilar categories for my articles and that worked for awhile. But as the articles began to pile up, I decided that it was not easy sufficient for my viewers to find what may be of interest to them. So I created an "article -- index" page, which contained the narrative name, a paragraph of article and a link to the article. I created more and more categories so that there wouldn't be too many articles on any one page. My goal was to make it easy for my viewers to browse the articles -- find what they were concerned in -- and fast navigate to it without a lot of fuss.
You can't always do this at the beginning. I find in most things, it evolves as you go along and good and good ways of doing will things come to you.
Step Five -- Using social Media
Make sure that you are hooked up to all that's available. MySpace, Facebook, twitter. Explore and learn. Make links in the middle of all your dissimilar sites. Use buttons or icons whenever possible. They are more interesting and more attention getting than just text links.
Step Six -- Research
Search engines are splendid ways of seeing approximately anything. I just enter in any questions that I want to know, and 95% of the time answers come up. You can find anyone from "icon" or "buttons" to add to your site to strategies for improving traffic. It will take time. Allot some time every day for this.
Step Seven - Working Strategies for Attracting Traffic
There are many, many strategies out there. My hint is to pick one at a time, work it and get good at it. Like anyone it takes time to get it going successfully. Then move on to the next.
Trying too many things at once, doesn't work well. You end up following too many people. You will find yourself overwhelmed with new knowledge and won't have time to follow-up and or put that knowledge to work.
Step Eight - Keep your Blog Current - Update! Update! Update!
One of the biggest failings I've seen musicians make with their sites and blogs is not updating often enough! That was harder to do when the only choice was a involved web-site managed by some firm, but now with blogging -- that has come to be so much simpler.
Best thing to do is to modernize daily! That might sound like a lot of work, but you can get population arrival to your site regularly if they know that there's always something new! And quest engines love that too.
What I do is have drafts, written and saved, ready to launch. I try to set up a week or two's "posts" (blog entries) ready to publish. Blogs allow you to agenda the publish dates, so you could in effect leave your blog for a week or more and still have pre-programmed posts arrival out daily. You can always change the order if something newsworthy comes up. But to have drafts ahead of time let's you be organized and you can work on the "posts" when you have the time. If they are already proofed and edited, all you have to do is hit the "publish" button and it's on your blog.
Step Nine -- Keep improving your blog -- Make it an on-going Thing
A lot of ideas will come to you, on how to heighten your blog, as you see it develop. Visit blogs that are well organized and learn from them. There are many, many population who share much knowledge and perceive for free. Put aside a time each day to keep learning.
Step Ten -- Find a Small Group to follow as Mentors
The internet is full of free offers! sufficient to make your head spin! It sure had mine spinning for awhile when I first began. And the thing is that there is much out there that is good and is principal -- and there is also a lot, where the free offer is followed by a hard sell, with pop-ups that won't even let you navigate off the page without a fuss! Don't adopt that approach! I'm not sure who it works on, but I always make a note to never visit that site again!
My advice is to do some investigating when you have the time and find a handful of population that just feel good to you, follow their blog, sign up for their newsletter and heed their advice. If it's a blog your working on, follow man who's working a blog! Find man who's doing very close to what you want to be doing!
Don't Be In a Hurry
Don't be in a hurry! It takes time. You will learn so much along the way and it can be a lot of fun too. Just remember to allocation your time. Explore can get crazy, that's why I say just follow a handful of people. And you have to watch the social media too, that can in effect consume your time. All of it will take more time at the starting but you will be able to streamline as you go.
